Description shirleysamp Store Antique Pair - Chinese porcelain vases - 19th Century ! 37" high ! 15" overall top diameter ! These magnificent vases were appraised in 1996 at $22,000 and are in the same condition today as they were when they were appraised.  They have been kept in an unused room, covered with sheets, out of sunlight, for all these years!  The appraisal reads as follows: "One pair of Chinese porcelain vases, flared at top, 19th century, and highly decorated with landscape designs, consisting of trees, birds with gold wings, bamboo and featuring a large landscape outlined as a fan with a deer in the center of the fan.  37" high, top diameter 15".  Overall bright polychrome enamels with blue being the predominant color, with a pair of ornate gold handles at the top.  Value for the paid:  $22000.00." The vases were appraised by a Member of the Appraisers Association of America. The colors are bright and bold with minimal wear.  The only noticeable wear is to the gold details on the flared tops - probably from being dusted all these years!  There are 2 small chips in the top edge of 1 vase and 1 small chip in the top edge of the other vase (see pictures).  There is a crack in the bottom of one vase (see picture) but it does not appear to have weakened the structure of the vase.  There are some small cracks in the handles.  One handle was repaired (see picture).  The pair is worth much more than the $22,000.00 they were appraised for 12 years ago!  They are a magnificent find !
